CLINICS

ANTENATAL CARE

Antenatal clinics are held both at Dordon and Polesworth. You will be cared for by both a midwife and a doctor with shared care by a consultant at the hospital. Please make an appointment for the clinic at reception when you discover you are pregnant.

PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE CLINICS

ASTHMA CLINICS

Any patients who suffer from asthma should have their medication and symptoms of asthma reviewed by the practice nurse at regular intervals to ensure they have the best treatment regime at all times.

DIABETIC CLINICS

It is important that all patients suffering from diabetes are checked regularly by the practice nurse for any complications arising from the disease. Also, by monitoring your blood glucose and with specific advice, we can help prevent these complications from occurring.

CHILD IMMUNISATION

If you have a child under five you will recieve appointments for your child's immunisations.

CORONARY DISEASE MANAGEMENT/HYPERTENSION CLINIC

A coronary disease management clinic is held at Dordon. Patients with risk factors associated with cardiac disease, eg smokers and those with hypertension or high cholesterol, are welcome at this clinic.

HEALTH SCREENING CLINICS

All patients are strongly encouraged to make an appointment to come along to our practice nurse clinics.
You can have your blood pressure taken on any day but it is advisable to book an appointment.

SMEARS

Female patients between the ages of 25 and 64 years are strongly advised to attend for a smear examination every three years, or five years if over the age of 50. They should make an appointment to have this done by the practice nurse or with any of the doctors if they prefer.

CONTRACEPTIVE SERVICES

Our practice nurse runs a family planning clinic at Dordon.

MINOR SURGERY

If you require a minor operation ie removal of a cyst or ingrowing toe nail, you will need to see one of our doctors who will then decide whether to carry out the procedure at the surgery or alternatively you may need to go to hospital.

STOP SMOKING CLINIC

Patients wishing to give up smoking are encouraged to come along to our clinic which is run at Dordon. Our practice nurse and a trained health care assistant are trained smoking cessation counsellors and will be pleased to talk to you.

PHARMACY FIRST MINOR AILMENT SCHEME

Patients exempt from prescription charges can receive free advice and treatment for the following ailments, directly from participating pharmacies:

Headache Nasal Congestion Sore Throat/Cough
Earache Head Lice Temperature
Cold/Flu Hay Fever Diarrhoea/Constipation

The pharmacist will need to see proof that you are registered at this practice and proof of your prescription exemption.

ARE YOU A CARER

A carer is someone who provides help and support to a relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage withought help due to age sickness disability or addiction. Please let the practice know if you a carer. Guideposts Carer Support Service works with all carers to assis with advice, information, and emotional support helping to promote carers' wellbeing.
