Appointments and Telephone Consultations

Appointments can be made by callingin at Dordon or Polesworth surgery, via the telephone (appointment line number 01827 330267) or via Patient Access (log in required please speak to reception to set this up for you). All clinics are by appointment only, the receptionists will try to book an appointment with the patients preferred GP but if this is not possible an appointment will be offered with one of the otherGPs available at that surgery.

If you feel that you need to be seen urgently please make this known to the receptionist who will inform the Duty doctor

Some GP appointments are pre-bookable up to six weeks in advance, some are released the day before and others are only bookable on the day. If you are unable to keep an appointment please contact the surgery to inform the staff so that the appointment can be offered to someone else.

Nurse and Nurse Assistant appointments are bookable in advance.

Please note the surgery phone lines are extremely busy when we open first thing in the morning, with patients requiring appointments.  If you find that the lines are busy, please wait for a while until the volume of calls settles.

We ask that for all other enquiries, patients phone after the busiest period of the day i.e. after 9:00am on the enquiry line number 01827 892893.

Please remember an appointment is for one person only and a separate appointment should be made for any other persons attending for a consultation.

We also offer telephone consultations for patients who feel that their problem could be dealt with without needing a face to face appointment with a doctor.  Please let the receptionist know if you prefer a telephone consultation appointment time.

Remember appointments are usually around 10 minutes long, the clinical staff try to keep to these timings in order to avoid other patients having to wait.  Occasionally, if an emergency crops up, patients may find they have to wait longer to be seen.  If this occurs the reception staff will keep you informed.

Our reception staff are fully trained and do a very difficult job well, they do by far the most harassed job at the practice. Please remember that if you need to be kept waiting or seem to be asked one or two irritating questions, they are carrying out our policy, which helps us to triage sicker patients and sign post other patients to the most appropriate health care worker for their needs. In asking these questions, we aim to ensure the practice runs smoothly. And that patients are seen promptly, by the most appropriateClinicianfor their needs.

The Duty Doctor has to judge the urgency of requests so please try to give the receptionists the information they require. Our receptionists are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the Doctors and Nurses.
